About these meters

Overview

The StoryToolz Progress Meters show the progress you are making on your writing project. They display your current word count along with your estimated or goal word count. When a web surfer clicks on your meter, then they see expanded statistics showing your progress on a day-by-day basis.

There is a simple, three-step process for using the StoryToolz Progress Meters ...

Step 1 - Setting Your Meter Up

Example To set up a new meter, click the "Create New Meter" link on the left edge of the screen. You then enter the title and goal word count of your progress meter, click "Create Meter" and voila your progress meter is created.

Step 2 - Add HTML Code to your Website

After creating your meter, simply add the HTML code to your web page to display it. To do this go to "Your Progress Meters" and click the "Edit" link on the meter you just created. Then click "Get HTML Code" from the menu on the left.

Note: Instructions on how to add the code to your web page are not given. This varies on the blogging or web authoring software you use.

Step 3 - Update your word count daily

Each day create a new entry with your word count for the day. This immediately updates your meter and stores your daily count in order to show the "Daily Progress Statistics"

Daily Progress Statistics

When you (or any web surfer) clicks on your progress meter, you will see a screen similar to this:

Daily Stats

On this screen you can scroll through all of the activity you've had on your project week-by-week.
