How does the tracking code work? [ « back to help index ]

Tracking is enabled in one of two ways:

  1. You link to the StoryToolz site by adding a "?aff_id=100" to the end of the URL. (Note that the 100 is only an example, you must use your own affiliate code.)

Let's say you want to have a link from your website to http://storytoolz.com. Instead of using http://storytoolz.com, you use http://storytoolz.com?aff_id=100.

This works for any web page on the StoryToolz site.

  2. You add a progress meter to your website. When you do this, and you are an affiliate, tracking is enabled automatically. Even if you added the progress meter to your website when you weren't an affiliate, the moment you become an affiliate the tracking kicks in.

When a surfer comes to the StoryToolz website they are tracked by a cookie and by IP. As soon as that surfer joins StoryToolz by creating a free account, you are credited as referring them. Then, if they ever upgrade to a premium account you receive monthly comissions.

Please note that a surfer is only tracked by the first affiliate to refer them to StoryToolz. If you refer somebody, they don't join, but come back later through a different affiliate link, you get credit.
